Full Bio

Dr. Mylea Charvat founded Savonix following her fellowship at Stanford School of Medicine. A veteran of the tech industry, she was the Staff Development Manager for Travelocity.com in the 1990s, helping to grow the company to over 1,000 employees in 2 years.

Dr. Charvat grew up in an entrepreneurial household, learning the real-world application of her math homework by working on employee payroll and P&L documents with her mom from age twelve. Examples of her vision can be found in myriad past projects including her leadership of a pioneering team that established evidence-based community alternative care programs in PTSD for Veterans in direct response to her observations of systems and access failures in the Veterans Healthcare Administration. As a graduate student she trained extensively with the National Center for PTSD in Menlo Park where she developed psycho-educational content for web-based delivery for Veterans and co-founded the Early Intervention Trauma Clinic, which still operates in Palo Alto providing low cost evidence-based intervention following trauma. She served for three years as the PTSD assessment and treatment coordinator for the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center with the Veterans Healthcare Administration where she earned special contribution awards for her work in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Dr. Charvat also contributes as a subject matter expert for multiple media outlets including Kaiser News, Participant Media, The Huffington Post and KRON 4 in San Francisco.

Dr. Charvat completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Kansas, her M.S. and Ph.D. in clinical health psychology at Palo Alto University, and her Ph.D. Fellowship in clinical neuroscience at Stanford University School of Medicine. She currently sits on the advisory board for the Military Health Project and the Army Surgeon General’s Brain Health Taskforce. She has served in the past as a director and officer on multiple boards including the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) and Conard House in San Francisco.
